Village of Lake Hallie Confirms Posting of 2025 Property Taxes Following State and County Review

Lake Hallie, WI – The Village of Lake Hallie is providing an update regarding the posting of 2025 property tax statements following a comprehensive review and recalculation process.

Property tax statements are now available for viewing and payment. While the Village anticipated that taxes would decrease following the closure of two Tax Increment Districts (TIDs) earlier this year, the final outcome reflects state and county requirements tied to statutory reporting deadlines.

Although the TIDs were formally closed on April 21, 2025, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue’s cutoff date for tax reporting purposes was April 1, 2025. As a result, the associated tax increment was required to be included in the 2025 levy calculations. The Village worked closely with the Chippewa County Treasurer’s Office and the Department of Revenue to verify and confirm the correct treatment under state law.

“This is not the outcome we anticipated, and I understand the frustration this may cause for residents,” said Village Administrator Anastasia Stueber. “That said, there is full consensus between the State and County that the taxes have been calculated appropriately and in compliance with Wisconsin requirements. Accuracy and transparency were our priorities throughout this process.”

The Village recognizes the impact property taxes have on residents and appreciates the community’s patience as staff worked through the recalculation process to ensure the final figures were correct and compliant.

Residents can view their tax statements and submit payments through the County’s tax portal or by contacting the Village Office directly. If you made a payment prior to the recalculation, it will not appear until we get it re-entered into the system. Again, we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

For questions, residents may contact the Village Office at 715-726-2660, or visit www.lakehallie.us.

Please note: Village staff understand the frustration surrounding this outcome and want to acknowledge that they did not have discretion or control over the statutory tax calculations. While we recognize and respect the community’s concerns, we kindly ask that all interactions with staff remain respectful as they continue to assist residents.
