Press Release: Reissue Corrected Property Tax Statements: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 17, 2025   Village of Lake Hallie to Reissue Corrected Property Tax Statements Following Audit and State Review Lake Hallie, WI – The Village of Lake Hallie is taking corrective action to reissue updated property tax statements following the identification of an error in the originally calculated tax levy. After completing an internal audit and initiating consultation with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, the Village will amend its adopted budget, approve an updated tax levy, and reprint corrected tax statements to ensure accuracy for all taxpayers. As a result of this correction, property owners will see an additional reduction reflected on their revised tax statements anticipated by the end of next week. “The moment I felt something was not right, I initiated a conversation with the Department of Revenue to confirm the accuracy of the levy,” said Village Administrator Anastasia Stueber. “As both a taxpayer and a Village employee, I believe it is my responsibility to speak up, verify the facts, and ensure our residents are billed correctly. Once the concern was raised, we immediately took our tax system offline so payments would not be accepted until the appropriate calculations were reflected.” The Village Board will consider the required budget amendment and updated tax levy at an upcoming public meeting. Once approved, corrected tax statements will be printed and mailed. The Village anticipates reissuing tax statements early next week, at which time the system will also be restored and available for viewing and real estate tax payments. Residents are asked to disregard the previously issued tax statements and wait for the revised statements before submitting payment. If a full payment has already been received, a credit will be issued once the amended tax statements are calculated. If the first installment has been paid, the adjustment will be reflected as a reduction in the second installment. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents as we work through this process,” Stueber added. “While this was not the outcome we anticipated, I am confident in the corrective actions being taken and in our continued commitment to fiscal responsibility and public trust.” Additional updates, including confirmation of reissued statements and payment availability, will be shared on the Village website and official social media channels.
